Merch

Shipping Merch videos

I’ve been making artwork and artwork to sell (merchandise) for a long time. Must of started about 20 years ago. I really got serious with it in 2016/17 though. But over the past 6 months I was inspired to try and make more videos documenting my everyday work as a small business owner and a working artist. there’s no benefactor for me, no trust fund, no rich patron. Just me, my hands, my mind, and my feet taking this stuff to the folks one day at a time.

In documenting thee everyday stuff I saw a Canadian artist named Maia Faddoul recording herself packaging her merch. At first I thought, who would want to watch me do that? But then, I thought why not give it a try. I’ve been sending still pictures of my books, paintings, prints, and stickers for years.

And not only is it working in terms of more sales, it is helping me understand how to promote myself in a natural non fake way. I’m not a comedian or great at making funny videos, but I make art and all I’m doing is finding another way to share it. These are 1 minute videos using my phone, tiktok or iMovie to edit them, then uploading them to Tiktok, Instagram, and Youtube.

Soon, I’m going to make a pdf about what Ive learned after selling online, at book fairs, craft shows, out the trunk, and to larger businesses and organizations. Stay tuned….

Feature on Etsy

I was getting a whole bunch of favorites and sales for a sticker in my shop and wondered, who is either talking about my work or featuring it? Now I know. Etsy has a Black Owned Etsy Group which features shops from many disciplines and categories and my work is in there. If you log into Etsy and scroll the main page for Black History Month my “PAUSE” sticker is there. Thank you Etsy for the feature! I appreciate it.

Storytime Print Deal 2

NEW-This is a new set of prints I started this summer. I started a similar series years ago and I’m happy to pick it nack up. I made these prints to be hung in places where young people can see them. Libraries, offices, classrooms, homes, maybe even community centers. Wherever the place, its meant to be a tool to encourage reading for fun and to learn.

Storytime Print 8

This was fun to make. Like the very first “Storytime Print” I made, I really wanted to show a classroom or library setting where children are being read to. This is the 8th one in the series and I hope you dig it. Remember to read to your kids 15 minutes a day if possible.

Abundance Gold Sticker

Ey fam, these are trying times. Real talk as my uncle used to say. Genocide, recession, a culture of individualism over collective. But, I am manifesting more connection, helping one another, connecting, and bringing in enough to feel stable and share that. If you are manifesting something, or want to acknowledge something, this sticker is for you.

Storytime Print 6

Ok, here’s Storytime Print #6. This is based on a photo of my son when he was a tween reading graphic novels for hours, getting all the way into them, and inspiring of love of them in me too. If you’d like to get a copy of this print for your classroom, library, reading nook, or office.
