Sa Pilipinas Fundraiser+Video (TYS+Water Writes)

So this Friday The Water Writes project, The Trust Your Struggle Collective, and many other orgs will be presenting a small art fundraiser for Typhoon victims in The Philippines. There weill be art for sale, music, performances, and I’m thinking about doing henna or doing custom nail painting. What say you ladies, or fellas too if you’re into painting your nails.  Seriously, check out all the folks donating their time. And read what Bambu had to say about the Typhoon under “data dump”.

Annd Check out this “Beautipul” (Filipino accent) video from the Palawan mural my crew painted out in the Philippines this past summer. Incredible wall, crew, family, support, faces, etc.

Sa Pilipinas upon us

Yo, have been noticeably absent from the blog. Been finishing up a huge mural (fotos/video coming soon)at a local high school, sending off loved ones(and my heart) to fly across the globe, and helping my crew prep for their journey to The Philippines by helping to print posters/shirts/ and package them! Yes lawd, it is finally happening, my crew is traveling on our 3rd mural tour. Here is the video clip, if you need a refresher. If you know of any magazines, journalists, or artists out there please holler at me, as I will be doing my best to get press to the walls they paint. Erin Yoshi, Cece Carpio, Miguel “Bounce” Perez, and Shaun Burner will be out there collaborating w/ The Estria Foundation, Palawan University, Anak Bayan, and so many more. Check out the homie Pele and Kerri on the Jeepney photo! The folks will be in: Manila, Baguio, and Palawan. For those of you my folks who donated your hard earned scrilla (money), your gifts are on the way! If you don’t get yours, please holler at me. Some of you already have, thanks! The homie Pele put together a few workshops for us about what its like out there and I have to say Im super juiced to learn more about how organizers, activists, and artists work together out there to create change.

Water Writes Mural-Oakland, Ca

This mural was spear headed by the Estria Foundation and involved the collective painting, volunteering, and assistance of over 80 people. I have been helping by painting people and birds, beavers, water, and many other things while standing on lifts 40-50 ft up in the air (scared as hell-real talk!). But ultimately extremely proud to participate and be a part of such a monumental piece of Oakland’s new history and Estria foundations message of art+ knowledge spreading + and information. One of the reasons that this city got it’s name is because of the immense amounts of natural streams, rivers, and small bodies of water that were once so prominent. That is why there are and were so many trees and so much greenery. on this project you have tons of talented writers and artists out there. But which of them is giving you style and substance? Peep the youth, hella bay legends, my crew, and folks who are not only painting, but learning. Check out the links below on the wall. Much love and light.
